Parting Gifts is vastly different from my previous albums. In the past each album has had its own production signature applied to a whole set of music. This album is much more representative of a live performance when I am most apt to jump between genres, tempos, and feel. And that is reflected in the way we produced each song on the album. But there is an overarching theme to the collection, and that is one of love, and it touches on the many aspects of love in my life. The love of the natural world, romantic love, loss of those we hold dear, the celebration of intimate friendships, the joy I get from my four-legged companions, my love of performing, and above all the love I have for my family. Parting Gifts is dedicated to the memory of my mother Arde and my father-in-law Chuck. You are missed beyond words. See you on the flip-side. Thanks to Raymond Gonzalez and Tim Crouch for sharing their other-worldly talents with me. Your work made these songs come to life in a way I could not have imagined when I went into the studio. Kudos gentlemen! In a world where we can choose to be anything, choose to be kind.
